How it all started

Ten years ago, Belen Bailey made the hard choice of leaving her beloved teaching job to pursue her dream, opening her own bakery: "Sweets by Belen." Ever since, she has been baking homemade South American pastries from scratch, drawing inspiration from the traditions of her homeland, Peru. The journey to success, though immensely rewarding, proved far from easy. Determined to prevail, Belen poured her heart and soul into her bakery. Her relentless dedication bore fruit, establishing a successful woman and  Latin-owned small business in Houston, Texas. Yet, Belen's story is made of much more than entrepreneurial success, for it is a testament to hope, resilience, and the power of family heritage.

Growing up in Peru, Belen bore witness to the hardships endured by her mother and grandmother. Her grandmother, an ardent cook and baker, never received fair compensation for her hard work. Concerned, Belen's mother disapproved of her grandmother's profession.
As Belen matured, she grasped the bittersweet dynamic between her mother and grandmother, recognizing the strength and resilience she had inherited. For her grandmother was a woman of strength, undeterred by the lack of recognition and respect she deserved. She was a woman of dedication, never willing to let go of her passion for baking. 

In homage to her grandmother's enduring legacy, Belen's bakery became something more. It became an embodiment of her grandmother's love and dedication. Belen's bakery now stands as a beacon of hope, inspiring all who have confronted hardships and fought to transform their dreams into reality. Belen's story reminds us that no matter what obstacles we face, we must never give up on our passions and dreams. For it is through our struggles that we find the strength to overcome and succeed, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
